Book news!
I have one more read through for edits to do on When You Prevail before my aliens get to pick it apart, and I've gotten the cover for Unifying the Nyanine, so I can start working on a release schedule, but, otherwise, I've not managed to accomplish much in the last few weeks. With pregnancy exhaustion, editing work, and my daughter home for the summer, I'm honestly struggling to accomplish much. But I will get back to writing and editing my books as soon as I'm able after the baby arrives, which will hopefully be soon.
In other news, I wanted to share my interview with Mosaic Digest Magazine!😊 They reached out to me, and I took the opportunity, and I'm quite happy with it! I can't believe it's happened, but I'm so honored, and I love how they captured the essence of my writing, all about the story, upliftment, lessons, and love😊
If you'd like to check it out, you can do so here. And, if course, you're welcome to share as well if you’d like.
As far as life goes, I'm slowly heading towards the end of my pregnancy. I'm dilated 3 centimeters, having daily Braxton Hicks contractions, but no signs of labor just yet. But they keep saying any day now. I'm definitely ready for her to be here, but I'm doing my best to wait patiently.😅
We're trying to teach our daughter to swim this summer, so we plan to have lots of pool time if we can. And, come August, we'll have a big family reunion at our house for Cody's family from Kansas, so everyone will get to meet the baby.
What kind of summer plans do you guys have? Comment or email me back and let me know:) I’d love to hear from you!
I’ve been doing some thinking lately, and I would really like to eventually record my own audio books so that they sound as I intend them. I also just love reading aloud, so it’d be fun for me. I don’t currently have the budget or equipment for such a thing, but I wondered if maybe some of you readers felt the same way and would like to hear my books how I intended them.
If this is something you would like to do, I can absolutely record myself reading chapters or scenes and put them into these newsletters for you guys to listen to, most likely for the Sneak Peek Sunday portion, we’ll just do throwback editions;) I’d love to hear your thoughts, so feel free to email, chat, or comment back with thoughts and suggestions, or simply answer the poll below so I can see what sort of interest we have.
NOTE: if you do reach out to me via email and ask for a specific scene, it will remain anonymous. I do not intend to go calling out anyone for the scenes or chapters they choose, no matter what they are. I don’t want anyone to feel embarrassed or called out, I just want to offer a fun way to enjoy more of my books that will also allow you guys to get to hear me and know me a little better.♥
🖊️Sneak Peek Sunday🖊️
What am I currently working on and willing to share with you? Check it out!⬇️
This week’s teaser is coming from When You Prevail, the 4th Laws of Love book. This story is filled with struggle, not just physical but emotional and mental from both sides. However, I think you’re going to like it when you get it into your hands. I don’t yet have teaser images made up as I’m still focused on editing the story, but I still wanted to start sharing what I could.
This particular excerpt is from Annalise (Ali)’s point of view as she comes home from work one day to find that everything is about to irrevocably change. This story will have some warnings to go with it due to the nature of the crime, so be prepared for that when the book releases, but, like with all my stories in this series, our victims will prevail. ;)
I get back to work, slipping into the motions, but I’m mentally elsewhere. There’s something nagging at me, something making me nervous, but I don’t know what. Maybe it’s some creep in the club that I’m not seeing, someone watching me, but it doesn’t feel that way. So my night goes by in a daze, my body moving, words slipping from my lips, but I’m not fully present for any of them.
I finally clock out, slip on my street clothes, and head home. When I get to the building, I hurry inside like always, but seeing my apartment door ajar makes my skin crawl. I push it open slowly, a putrid smell coming from inside. My heart rate rises, my breathing beginning to pant from me, as I step inside. The kitchen to the left is a mess, pans on the stove with random items scattered on the counter, but, looking beyond it, I see Mickayla’s door cracked as well. That’s not right.
“Mickayla? Mick, you home? You okay?” I call out as I grab a large knife from the counter. My eyes can’t seem to blink, my heart is pounding painfully hard, and I’m not sure what to expect. That smell, I can’t quite place it, but it’s nauseating. It’s burnt, something was burned, but I don’t recognize it.
Slipping to her door, I nudge it open as I continue to call her name, but I get no response. I look up to see her lying in her bed, hands and feet tied up, blood and bruises littering her body. There are burns on her thighs, breasts, stomach, and genitals. I quickly rush through her room, searching for someone in hiding, but when I find it’s empty, I rush to her. My fingers press to her neck, finding a pulse, and I grab my phone.
“911, what’s your emergency?”
“Please, send someone quick, my roommate’s been tortured and left for dead, she’s barely breathing.”
“Stay on the line, we’re sending officers and paramedics your way.”
“Mick, I’m right here, baby, you’re going to be okay. Let me get you untied.” I release her hands and feet, but she doesn’t move. Her face is swollen and bruised, one eye red, puffy, and swollen shut. I keep talking to her until the police and paramedics arrive, hoping that somewhere in the darkness she’s in that she can hear my voice and know that she’s going to be okay.
Now, I know this is different, our MC not being the victim, but just wait, this is only the beginning of the story. Perhaps Mick isn’t the only victim of this story, she’s just the first one you hear about. Are you ready to find out what Ashton and Ali must go through to find a happy ending?
Let me know what you think, I’d love to hear from you!
