Self-Publishing Guide
As a self-published author who’s been making this journey work on a very tiny to no budget most of the time, I wanted to step up and offer advice, options, and ways to do things to get started as an author without spending a fortune. Not all of us who write because it’s our passion can afford ads and help and other people to do things for us to get out there, we do this because it’s something we love to do, because we have words to share with the world.
However, just because we can’t afford the help and ads doesn’t mean we can’t still be successful through other means. You absolutely can build a substantial following, gain sales, and meet tons of people by doing all sorts of things completely for free or by spending very little money. Time and effort make up most of the struggle.
My guide is not a step-by-step guide or one of those instant success lies, it’s more a list of ideas broken down into sections to help you figure out what sorts of things you can try to help you get there for now, until you can afford to do things another way. Not all of the ideas I list will work for you as different things work for different people. Not all authors are good with Facebook Groups, some prefer to stick to email lists, others prefer Instagram, or maybe you love being on camera and TikTok is your jam. Every author has their own way, so my suggestions are merely that, suggestions and ideas to try and see what works for you and helps you grow in an authentic and inexpensive way.
